Refractories - SUPRA - RL 605 Description
SUPRA-RL 605 is a phenolic Novolac resin solution. It has been specially formulated for refractory applications. It is characterised by a medium viscosity range, high carbon yield, long storage life, room temperature handling and easy processability.
It can be used as a binder at an addition level of 3.0-5% for magnesia carbon bricks, slide gate Refractories, alumina carbon refractories etc. Addition of 10-12% hexamine is necessary for curing. Hexamine is initially mixed to the refractory aggregates to ensure thorough distribution followed by SUPRA-RL 605. In certain cases to improve the compressability and green strength of the bricks, SUPRA-RL 605 can be partially replaced by powder resin.
In the manufacture of mag-carbon bricks, it is available to age the mix for 4-8 hrs. prior to making the bricks, in order to obtain the bricks free from lamination and Surface cracks. Typical Properties
